Report Thread
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:43:12 am »

The following Useful Words are OOC:

This thread is for posting reports.  Usually these will be reports on missions that have occurred on IRC in order to allow everyone to keep track of events and plots going on there.  You can also use this to summarize information from forum threads, or as a way to create plot hooks.  Whatever might end up on a report can go here.

There is no standard format for reports.  You can have reports be readable IC only by certain people or ranks, or you can just post a report that you assume anyone will have access to.  Anyone can write reports, whether it be a player who wants to give their own take on a mission or the GM wanting to give follow up info.  Be creative in your use of this thread.

All reports are to be kept In Character.  Please differentiate OOC comments if any.

Filed Mission Report; New Mexico Frog Infestation
Mission log

On November 22nd, at 1200 hours Pacific time, former Outpost guest Gabriel Dorset contacted the Outpost with concerns about possible out of system creatures in Primary.  He reported that he was attacked while investigating suspicious activity in a building that he was renting office space from.  A team of Guardians consisting of Jenny Wren, Nekane and Killfrenzy were sent to investigate.

The investigation led to the discovery of four “frogmen” creatures from a Hellboy system.  All four were captured, though one died of asphyxiation before it could be treated.  It has been determined that though the frogmen appear to be sentient, they are not very intelligent and did not become aware.  Once their specific system of origin is determined, they will be returned.

Wren and Dorset were injured during the mission and jaunted to Medical for treatment.

Fourteen tenants and the land lord of the building were killed by the frogmen.  Damages to the property were extreme enough to warrant closing it completely.

Currently, we do not know how the frogmen arrived in Primary.  Further investigations are being made to find the correct system and the hope is that we can determine how they were able to travel to Primary once we can examine their system.

Filed Mission Report: Urban Arcana activity
Briefing materials and mission log

As described in the briefing materials attached, a team was sent to Scrae's home system to investigate a sudden renewal of activity there.  The team encountered Shalabha, one of the Div which a team had fought one other time.  The demon and her guards were dispatched in with no serious injuries to the team members.

The team was aided by Sukh Ra (please see report from last year on Scrae's reincarnation for more details*).  Sukh Ra asked to return with the team in order to escape the leader of the Div and is currently a guest at the Outpost.

The system is still active, though a follow up crew have found no new signs of activity from any aware agents.  More investigation will be made into possible causes.

This report is to be made available immediately to all ranks.  Please be aware that the demon Sukh Ra is not the same person as GSC Scrae Cesoerdo.  He has no memories of the Gaming Guardians outside his fairly brief encounter before he was sent back to his own system.  He is being monitored closely by Security for now.

((*The reports about Scrae's reincarnation are lost with the old forums, sadly.  When Scrae's soul was found, Scrae's body took on a life of its own.  This other Scrae was violent and not aware, and sent back to his system))

The Merchants.
  • Original Author by Relapse
  • Last updated 2008 by Stephen

The Merchants are a race of beings either native to Jauntspace itself, or they abandoned their home system long enough ago that it no longer matters to them.  I have had numerous meetings with them, none of them exceptionally cordial and most of them ended with combat and running.  They apparently harbor a special hatred for The Explorers - a similarly Jauntspace-based society with a crystalinne and ki-based technology the Merchants seem to especially lust after.

Appearance:
The Merchants appear to have no set build, race or system; they recruit whomever best exhibits their ethos of Trade Above All.  I would say they recruit those who they can also later gain mercantile advantage over but that is personal opinion without any backing facts.

Ethos:
The Merchants believe that everything has a price and anything that isn't for sale can be bought by paying someone else to acquire it for them.  If the really didn't want it to be stolen, they would have paid the Merchants for better security.

History:
I have a personal history with the Merchants, they having been responsible for the death of Kay`ela in the World of Darkness system, as well as having tried to acquire me 'legally' as property and attacking my PG Stephen.  Recent events have led us to believe they were the forces behind the attempted theft of plot items in the introductory adventures in:
They were successful in the Supermegatopia offensive, but were stymied in the other two attempts.

Rating:
There has been no linking of the Merchants with any activities of system-wide assault, destabilisation or other monitored events.  In fact, Merchants appear to prefer stability over chaos as it helps business.  Regardless, Intel rates their threat as medium to high - if they need something for something they seem to be able to acquire it.

*** Addendum
Relapse's "split" into Michael and Kewashi is the work of the Merchants!  Maid TuOrder tried to bargain with us, well so she said, but she attacked the GG who went to negotiate.  We have a CM recoded log of the Big Eyes, Small Mouth negotiations.  Bump their threat up, as now they've got an army of Rels!!!

RE: Mission Report: Urban Arcana activity

Last month a team was sent to investigate a sudden renewal of activity in Scrae's home system, after several months of inactivity.  The source of the new activity wasn't discovered and several teams have been sent to explore the system since then.  Evidence suggests that players are once again using the system for a game.  However, the system has been showing signs of destabilization since it first became active again.

Efforts are being made now to locate the players both in-system and in Primary in an attempt to identify the reason for the destabilization.  Because this is a system that borders both on several d20 systems and overlaps with an active AD&D system, it's destruction could mean destroying several systems.  Once the player-characters are located in-system, a team will need to be sent to try to stop the system from destabilizing any further.

Active Guardians are asked to be prepared for a call to go out for a mission soon.

((This is something of an unusual report, so bear with me. The rp in question happened on the old forums, and most of the players excepting Elwood I wasn't able to get a hold of and tell about the transfer. So the GM and I have decided to mark off the rp and cobble together an aftermath scenario so we can move on with our plots. Here it is:))

Filed Mission Report: Ambush during investigation in developmental system

Guardian records show reports of a signal powerful enough to be obtained in jauntspace coming from a system still in development. The unoccupied system was brand new; only the groundwork for the rp had been laid down, which made the presence of such a signal there highly unusual. A Guardian team consisting of the Amazing Adrian (lead), Elwood Jones (2nd), Diamond Hawk, and Jacks where sent to investigate.

Shortly after arrival in the system, the Guardians where ambushed by a party of out-of-system origin. Reports indicate that Guardian Adrian was overwhelmed by a look-alike and spirited from the system against his will. Subsequent attempts to contact Adrian or track him by his equipment have been unsuccessful.

The remaining Guardians, under the command of Elwood Jones, managed to defeat/escape from the ambush party and discovered that whatever was sending out the signal was no longer there.

Status: As of this writing, it is assumed that the signal was put in place as a lure to summon Guardian agents. The whereabouts of Guardian Amazing Adrian are currently unknown, and the descriptions of the ambush party match our files of characters known to be Moorin's henchmen. (Cross ref. Moorin [file, page numbers])

((hope this is ok! Please PM me if you want to discuss additions or changes, for those who where involved in the rp.))

Filed Mission Report:  Urban Arcana instability
Attached briefing and mission log

As indicated in the attached briefing materials, a team of Guardians was sent to investigate the instability of an Urban Arcana system.  Creatures were being brought into this system from another neighboring AD&D system at a much faster rate than usual, and not conforming to the setting as they should.  The team encountered a group or creatures that have since been identified as Kir-Lanan which were attempting to attack a group of player characters.  After the Kir-Lanan were dispatched (with at least two running away before they could be neutralized) the team had interaction with the player characters.  Something over the course of the mission caused the system to start stabilizing again, and no further investigations have been sent as the system continues to be stable.

Continued monitoring has shown that the player characters are embarking on a series of adventures and things seem to be running normally.  We will continue to monitor for signs of instability.

((PS: A little epilogue about the PCs in this system has been added to the link above, which provides some of OOC knowledge that may be interesting))

((While I am covering this to some degree in this thread, I feel I should have one, consolidated place for the progress of the mission in short summary form as well.))

RE: Mission Report: Within Story Arcade

Guardians Relapse, the Amazing Adrian, and Tiger have been transported into the Story Arcade system after Intel traced the source of Guardian Gebohq's life-threatening condition to that system.  The three arrived in an isolated diner within a Mid-Western setting, making short work of an evil possessed toaster.  They teamed up with NeS residents Rachel, Bokken and Soriel, whom were on a similar mission, and Story Arcade resident Lucy.  They gathered information that a group of men that called themselves the Lost Beta recently dominated the system and set up a fighting tournament.  They also discovered that Guy, Lucy's brother, was last seen confronting the leader of the Lost Beta, who calls himself Vice, and that Guy is likely Gebohq within the Story Arcade.  With this information, the Guardians and others set off to confront Vice.

However, the only means to confront Vice appears to be fighting through the fighting tournament, and advancement through the tournament requires travel by train to various locations.  Their first stop has brought the Guardians into a setting called Midtown Market -- an urban-esque commercial area that includes their first tournament arena and a 7-11.  The Guardians engaged in several conflicts with the Lost Beta before moving onto Hedgestone University followed shortly by their crash into the Lost Beta's headquarters - the Stark Stronghold of Starkness.

The group, with aid from some residents of Story Arcade, confronted Vice himself, who initially attempted to have them sign a contract to protect his rights over the game system.  After a near-death battle, the group was able to trick Vice into signing a contract requiring him to transfer ownership of the game system to Guy Book Smith and never set foot in the system again via a collective bluff.

Mission Report: The Abyssal Claim

Early in January, 2009, [undated-- blame admin?] a team consisting of GSS Attrition, Guest Sukh Ra, GFC Jenny Wren, and GFC Gigan Tirell was dispatched to the citadel of the arch mage Malachus Sacrevor to investigate possible acquisition of jaunt capabilities. During the investigation, they discovered that intel's supposition was correct, based on information found in a sort of 'observation chamber' at the top of the tallest spire of Sacrevor's stronghold shortly before it was destroyed by GFC Tirell and GSS Attrition. While there, the team encountered and captured a trio of Sacrevor's apprentices: Salvan Tiros, the most senior, and two understudies; Marius Virdet and Davion Rochorre. At this time, it seemed that any jaunt activity on Sacrevor's part was simply serendipitous; however, after questioning Tiros revealed that the efforts of him and his team were centred around stabilizing and maintaining viable jaunt portals, though he admitted not knowing the purpose of said portals. The system, and Sacrevor's activities, were placed under close scrutiny, though the mage himself was never observed and the inner workings of his stronghold remained a mystery.

1/19/09: Intel's observations of the site indicated that any of Sacrevor's higher-ranked followers who would provide information could be valuable, and so attention was placed upon one Rin Sakriss, reportedly one of Sacrevor's lieutenants. When it was discovered that Sakriss had attempted to flee the citadel, a team consisting of GSC Udoshi, GSS Attrition, and GFC Balance was dispatched to extract her. During the ensuing encounter, the team encountered and neutralized three 'Hounds of Sacrevor,' some sort of demonic hellhound-like shapeshifting humanoid, but allowed the creatures to escape. Sakriss herself attacked the team and injured GSC Udoshi before being neutralized and apprehended.

1/22/09: Rin Sakriss was questioned by GSS Attrition, finding that though Sakriss was not as high rank as initially believed, she had some useful information: while Sacrevor's goals were not discerned, the names of his actual lieutenants were learned. Tchen Bodu is apparently the leader of the Hounds, and a mage named Ingyas is the leader of the mortal magic-using element. More importantly, Ingyas was the first of Sacrevor's followers to actually access jauntspace and return, indicating that Sacrevor's progress was further along than initially believed. Sakriss also spoke about the origin of the Hounds.

The Hounds:
According to Sakriss, the Hounds of Sacrevor are exalted mortal warriors from the various northern tribes that pay Sacrevor homage. When one is considered strong enough of mind and body, they travel to Sacrevor's stronghold, where they are infused with the demonic essence of some sort of hellhound, granting the Hounds superior strength, speed, toughness, and impressive regenerative capability. Further, the Hound gains some degree of fire manipulation, which increases with age, and can transform into a hulking hybid human-wolf form. One ability seen to be shared is the power to 'teleport' through patches of fire, making it difficult to pin them down.
The names of a few Hounds are known: Tchen Bodu, Barghest, Mauthe, Ulf, Draegr, and Hraevas. It is estimated that there may be up to two hundred of these beings, affording overall leadership to Tchen Bodu but arranged into smaller 'packs' that each owe immediate loyalty to one 'alpha.' Sacrevor seems to use them as enforcers, trackers, and light infantry.

Filed Mission Report:  Continued Urban Arcana instability
Attached: Briefing and Mission Log

The Urban Arcana system that has been under observation due to past destabilization once again became destabilized.  At about the same time the destabilization was detected, a message was received from one of the player characters in the system (directed to an email that Jenny Wren set up in that system to allow the player characters to contact her with information). A team was sent to investigate the players, as we believed they had the source of the disturbance.  The team found that the players had something that resembled a Star Trek tricorder, which was not suitable for the Urban Arcana system.  The tricorder seems to have been destroyed, resulting in the system's stabilization, but no trace of the tricorder has been found since the mission was completed.

The players seem to be continuing on their campaign.  At the time, there does not appear to be any further reason to interfere.

Filed Mission Report: Urban Arcana and Sukh Ra
Attached: Mission Logs, Transcript of meeting with Sukh Ra, Jack's interrogation

A team consisting of Doctor Hugo Easton, Jenny Wren, Nightwhisper and Sukh Ra were sent once more to investigate the destabilization of Sukh Ra's native Urban Arcana system on Sunday afternoon.  This time, the player characters in this system were in it's version of Hell, trying to break into the home of the leader of the Div, apparently in order to steal power that was locked up there.  One of the PCs told the team that Carmine Cesoerdo was in the system and was going after this power.

It was discovered that the supposed Carmine was a polymorphed gremlin, which was killed by the team of Guardians.  Also, it became apparent that Sukh Ra had somehow engineered the need for the GG to be in the system at that time, in order for him to take back the power that the leader of the Div had taken from him.  In the end, he remained in the system when the team was jaunted back, having been returned to his former power.

Sukh Ra's brother, Jack, was questioned regarding what part Carmine had to actually play in these events.

Later, Sukh Ra contacted the Outpost using the comm that he had been issued while here.  He asked to meet with some representatives from the GG, specifically requesting that Jenny Wren be present.  Drathari Telperien let the team that met with Sukh Ra, consisting also of Sage Russel and Anariel Starstrider.

The transcripts of that meeting are attached.  It appears that Sukh Ra intends to stay in his home system and play out the role that he believes he was meant to as a character there.  He has taken control of the Div, calling himself "Div-e sepid," or first among the Div.  He intends to remove the Div from Hell and find a new home for them within his system.  He insists that all of this was meant to happen in his system and will cause no disturbance, and so far we have detected no further destabilization.

Sukh Ra has asked that the GG consider him an ally.  He has promised that no more of his people will become Aware, and he will try to ensure no other people from his system become Aware or travel to other systems.  He asks that if the GG ever have business in his system, they contact him to let him know what's going on.  He still has a comm and can be contacted at any time.

Sukh Ra had little to say about Carmine's involvement.  He would only insist that Carmine is no longer a threat to the GG and claimed that he has Carmine's soul, but won't give it up.

Finally, he asked that Jack remain at the OUtpost and continue the rehab program, and be allowed to become a recruit when it's possible, in order to repay the Guardians for the help that they have given Div.

Of course, no decisions have been made yet about Sukh Ra's requests, especially considering that he has demonstrated a tendency to hide things from the GG already, and has been unwilling to produce Carmine or evidence that Carmine is no longer a threat.

Autopsy and Necromantic Interrogation of Bodies Recovered from Sukh Ra’s Urban Arcana System

Access Level: GDH

Two bodies were recovered from the Urban Arcana system currently inhabited by Sukh Ra.  One appearing to be Carmine Cesoerdo and one gremlin that had been polymorphed to appear to be Carmine.  Both bodies were provided by Sukh Ra himself.

Carmine’s soul was not present and could not be contacted, which was not surprising as Sukh Ra already claimed to have Carmine’s soul and is unwilling to release it to the GG.  The autopsy shows that the subject died due to severe trauma, most likely from his jugular being torn out.  The body suffered many more injuries that probably occurred after death, all appearing to have been caused by teeth and claws.  The body was a genetic match with the information we have on file for Carmine and Val.

The Gremlin was revived temporarily by our necromancers.  He revealed that his name was Sharkie, and he was once one of Bart’s Knuckledraggers.  Apparently Bart disowned him when it was discovered that he had been stealing things from the Outpost, which resulted in there being a dead end when investigations into the missing materials were done.  Bart never reported the thefts or the fact that Sharkie left the Outpost.

Sharkie had encountered Jack before being shunned by his people, and agreed to provide Jack with information and materials that he could get a hold of.  He was not under mind control like Jack’s other servants.  He gave much the same information that we have since learned from Jack himself about the ex-Div’s association with Carmine.  After Jack was brought to the Outpost, Sharkie continued to serve Carmine, mostly doing simple tasks for the man until he was polymorphed for the final mission.  Carmine apparently spent a lot of time training Sharkie to imitate his mannerisms.

Re: The creative minds behind Scrae's UA System
Acess: GSS

After the encounter with Sukh Ra  Where in we learned that Carmine had been working as the GM with the system's original players, and that the original GM was 'dead' I initiated an investigation reguarding them. The information on the PGs is now on file, with its usual access.. but the information on the GM who created the UA system was ...unsatisfactory.

The man who created this system disappeared without a trace five years ago. A guardian's investigation was never initiated into the events, and the primary police were unable to find any clue as to what happened.
His room had been ransacked, searched through, and a body was never found. After five years, hes been declared officially dead.
I took the initiative and had some of his personal items retrieved to have our Magi and psycics look over.
Only two clear pieces of information were gained from this: One: There was indeed a man who did not 'belong' in the GM's room, who wears black boots, and Two: The young man is not dead in primary. Or alive in primary, for that matter.
With this worrying news I am currently getting a more powerful scry done so that we might find out what system the young man -was- abducted to.
The investigation continues, I wish it had been started sooner.

Strange Findings in Shadowrun
Access: All
Writer: SumGai Iba, in Intel

A few months ago Retukka Joriol and Jenny Wren retrieved an Autobot from a Shadowrun system that had been seeing some slight instabilities, we had assumed were caused by... frickin Autobots in Shadowrun. After interrogating the Autobot they rescued from being shipped to Aztlan and their allies the Decepticons, instead of a reduction of system instabilities there was only a noted increase, leading us to believe "Crackzfire" as he called himself belonged there, with the other Transformers. We did find a clue in the interrogation however. Before he was transferred to the vehicle he was rescued from, he saw a bald man coming on middle age in an immaculate white suit with this image http://www.geocities.com/sumdumphok/exp-i-flower.gif on his right chest pocket. For those not in the know, this image was last seen on the mysterious jaunts used by a younger man named Edar Hughes also known as "Suit" , responsible for illegal items trafficking in the systems, and the kidnap/murder and subsequent modification of Guest Topaz. As of yet there is no confirmed connection between the two. Hopefully further missions will give us more evidence.

Urban Arcana Recovery Mission
Mission Logs

Jenny Wren led a team to Sukh Ra's Urban Arcana system to recover the remains of that system's GM, Leslie Thomas.

The team met with some difficulty.  The remains were found to be at the bottom of a sound and the team needed to dive for them.  They were attacked by a giant octopus that was quickly dispatched.  A group of fishmen creatures, which have been identified as Locathah, then appeared to demand payment in order to dig for the remains.

The remains were successfully recovered and brought back to the Outpost.  There Doctor Martin de Mora attempted to resurrect the man.  Though a body could successfully be created, the doctor was unable to locate Thomas's soul.  Jenny Wren has put in a request to attempt it again in the Urban Arcana system.

The body that was created is alive, though without a soul, and is being kept on life support in Medical.
